The battlefield is rendered from a top-down perspective using a hexagonal grid layout over the rugged terrain of the Ardennes. The map realistically tracks strategic points, rivers, roads, and dense forests that heavily impact movement speeds and choke points. Players can take control of either the attacking German forces trying to rapidly break through to Antwerp, or the defending Allied forces scrambling to hold the line and delay the German advance until reinforcements arrive.
