The popular game of Blackjack is a favourite amongst beginners to the world of casino, as it’s easy to understand and play. But there are certain things that you can learn to up your level of playing. So, we’ve put together our top tricks to improve your strategy and techniques when playing Blackjack at an online casino site Read on to find out what they are!
Tip #1 — Remember Lady Luck
The first thing to know when playing any casino game, including Blackjack, is that the luck of the cards is the biggest factor that will affect the outcome. And unfortunately, it’s something that is out of every player’s control.
The result of each round of Blackjack will be random, and essentially it will always be luck that determines whether you win or lose. But, in comparison to other online casino games, like Roulette and Slots, there are some ways of playing Blackjack which may work in your favour.
Tip #2 — Use a Blackjack Chart
This is particularly effective for beginner Blackjack players, as a Blackjack Chart is a tool that you can use to help decide what move to take next. It comprises of a grid, where your hand is compared to the dealer’s up card (the card that can be seen by the players). Depending on the number shown on the cards, you can follow the rows and columns to the relevant square, which will provide you with the most logical action to take next — and in theory, give you more of a chance of winning. A simple version of the chart will tell you when to hit, stand, split or double down when it’s likely to work in your favour.
As you advance in playing Blackjack, you could memorise the chart and then automatically take the most logical action when certain cards are dealt. However, as aforementioned, luck will always play a major part, so using the chart will not always guarantee a win. Plus, the chart doesn’t take into account the unknown variable, which is the cards in the deck that are yet to be dealt in the game.
Tip #3 — Don’t make it all about 21
As the game is sometimes known as 21, it can be easy to think that achieving a total of 21 is the full aim of Blackjack and the only way to win the game. But this is a common misconception. Although getting a hand of 21 is the ideal total, it’s not the only way to win.
When playing Blackjack, you can win with a hand that is closer to 21 than that of the dealers. You can also win if the dealer goes bust before you! So, if that means sticking when a hand isn’t actually 21, when it’s probable that the dealer will go bust, you may still win! You should make your moves strategically to win in these two ways, and not simply strive for the ‘golden’ number of 21.
Tip #4 — Counting cards is impossible with online Blackjack
You’ve seen in it the movies, where the character makes some fast calculations when playing Blackjack to win mega prizes. In real life, this is known as card counting, and is an actual technique that you can use in a land-based casino, although it takes some impressive and quick thinking.
But if you prefer playing Blackjack at an online casino site, then there is no point even attempting such a technique, as it’s impossible to succeed this way. Card counting relies on knowing the cards that remain in the deck that are yet to be dealt, knowing the set number of decks being used and when they will be shuffled. When playing online, the cards are digitally shuffled after every round, and multiple decks are used each time, so the outcome is completely random, making it impossible to keep track of the cards that may remain in the deck.
