The Defending Champions of the WSOP 2021

The buy-in events at the WSOP are considered to be Championship Events. These buy-ins tend to attract the best players from across the world. This leads to the tournaments being far more prestigious. Winning a tournament is not a mean feat to say the least. You do not take one down through sheer luck. The first championship event has happened already and it attracted well over 126 players. With the tournament about to shuffle up and deal, it’s time to take a look at the Championship Events. If you want to follow all of the action, then you have come to the right place.

Frankie O’Dell

Frankie O’Dell happened to come out on top out of 183 people. He won his third bracelet in 2019 and he also appeared in the Omaha Hi and Lo event. This helped him to win a $1500 buy-in event as well as a $2,000 buy-in event. He also managed to defeat Owais Ahmed. The two of them went up against each other. They managed to contend with the likes of Robert Mizrachi as well as Robert Campbell. You also have Shaun Deed and David Benyamine as well. GGPoker is handling the online competitions this year, and if you look at the people who are taking part, you will soon see that things are heating up.

Hossein Ensan

The biggest championship of the WSOP is the Main Event. Last year’s event was online and hybrid but 2019 saw over 8500 players exchange $10,000 at the cage of the Rio All-Suite Hotel. They managed to create a monstrous $80,548,000 prize pool. Hossein Ensan came away with the bulk of the pot, but at the end of the day, he has been playing for years. He scooped up close to $10 million. He went up against Dario Sammartino, an Italian. He managed to collect over $6 million for the finish. The main event happened to be the most remembered. You have Garry Gates who came in fourth place. He has been part of the poker tournament for quite some time, and he has a bunch of people in his corner. He came in at fourth but that didn’t stop him from being able to come away with 3 million.

Phil Hui

The main event is for the people but when you look at the finer details, you will soon see that this is for the pros. It commands a buy-in of around $50,000 and this has paid 74 players in the last few years. Dario Sammartino went deep but he was busted in the ninth. You also have Phi Ivey and then David Oppenheim. They crashed in 7th and 8th place. Phil Hui happened to be the last man standing in that round. He got the second bracelet, and he also came away with over one million in cash. This is his biggest ever score, so it’s safe to say that he was very happy with that result.

Robert Campbell

Robert Campbell managed to win the $10,000 Seven Stud Hi Lo event. This helped him to become the WSOP Player of the Year. He managed to overcome over 150 opponents, and this happened to include the famous Mike Matusow. This was at the final table. He won over $300,000. It was his second bracelet and he managed to win the $1,500 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw.

Three of the Hennigan’s bracelets have now come in for Championship events. He managed to win the $50,000 poker championship for players as well as multiple other events, which netted him a tidy profit.
