Description

Bargon Attack (1992) is one of the more obscure, bizarre, and campy point-and-click adventure games developed by the French studio Coktel Vision (famous for Gobliiins, Fascination, Ween: The Prophecy, and Inca).
The game is a direct adaptation of a French comic strip created by Racheed and the Marc Brothers, which originally ran in the French computer magazine Micro News.
The story relies heavily on B-movie sci-fi tropes mixed with meta-humor. Humanity has become completely obsessed with a new, highly popular computer game called—you guessed it—Bargon Attack. At the same time, people are mysteriously vanishing, and a bizarre, mask-wearing cult is rising in popularity. The computer game is actually a Trojan horse. An alien race known as the Bargonians is using the software to infiltrate the solar system and conquer Earth. You play as a nerdy, glasses-and-baseball-cap wearing computer programmer who accidentally witnesses a Bargonian crime, gets caught up in the resistance, and must ultimately travel all the way to the Bargonians' home planet to destroy their central mainframe with a floppy disk.
It was one of the very first titles to implement a streamlined point-and-click interface that Coktel Vision would reuse for almost all of their subsequent popular 90s adventures. It shifted away from text commands into a simplified "Look / Pick up / Use" cursor. Unlike many of Coktel Vision’s first-person or tightly enclosed room puzzle games (Fascination, Ween), Bargon Attack features a traditional third-person perspective across roughly 20-30 stylized, cyberpunk-esque locations. The DOS CD-ROM version was one of the company's early experiments with utilizing Full Motion Video (FMV) tech for its animated cutscenes, boasting a fully voiced intro (though, notoriously, the English version omitted subtitles for it). Early in the game, your protagonist acquires an alien arm unit. Throughout the adventure, you collect distinct computer disks to reprogram the arm, granting you functions like Shoot (a basic laser beam), Mutate (transforming objects), and Translate (to decipher alien language).
