DOS Games Are Still A Thing As Gamers Frantically Keep Up With More Modern Releases

Computer gaming consoles have come a hell of a long way since the early days of the 1980's and the original Nintendo's, Sega's, Atari's, Commodores and Sinclair's and it has turned into a worldwide, multi billion pound industry with improvements in everything from sound and graphics, playability, type of genres available and the complexity of game play itself.

As gamers will know, the latest trend has been online game play and these days, you do not need to physically browse shelves or racks to find your latest game fancy, you can simply log on, peruse a list of available future conquests and download it right to your machine and key to that option being available has been the growth of online platform Steam.

The biggest problem with gaming these days in many ways is simply the choice of options available, and with around about a dozen new releases coming out each day on average, most gamers have probably got a much better chance of memorizing the legal sports betting companies listed on BetStation, and in fairness for those who like a flutter you are probably capable of finding odds on what the next giant leap in gaming could be with growing technology and betting markets now covering almost areas of modern day life.

But whilst you are playing away and enjoying yourself with your existing game set, it is very easy to miss newer available and exciting gems, but there are websites out there who will put in the legwork for you to make it easier to keep up to date with releases and here are a few better options that became available in and around the last seven days.

Developer So Romantic's latest offering is Jack Movie.

Protagonist Noa Solares embarks on a solo mission and finds herself taking on the ubiquitous cyperpunk mega corporation Monomind as she attempts to rescue her kidnapped father. It is a science fiction adventure with bundles of charm, with far more than a simple nod to 16 bit Japanese Role Playing Games (JRPG) but in stark contrast to the usual weaponry you would expect to find, the title character has to use her hacking smarts in turn based battles in order to progress further in the game. It is an interesting concept, but the pixel art will attract plenty of fans.

AweKteaM's Tower Princess is a more roguelike 3D platform. The playable knight will have to traverse whole new layouts of a castle in an attempt to save the princess. The layouts are generated procedurally and are full of traps, ranged and close quarter fighting and both the sword and the rifle can be upgraded as you progress. Most will find the game play slightly heavier than more mascot orientated games, but the simplicity of the concept is appealing.

Samurai Punk's Justice Sucks - Tactical Vacuum Action is not an attack on the Justice System, it is some kind of follow up by the studio to Roombo: First Blood, however, this time as they build on the idea of violent playable vacuum cleaners there is an element of stealth involved, as well as hacking, so it is a more tactically minded and complex experience. Protagonist Dusty can recruit colleagues and even a cat in this one, and with a 90's retro theme, it will certainly tick the box for some.

Whilst those offerings will not be for everyone, the beauty of modern day gaming is there is something for absolutely everyone and if more nostalgic older Disc Operating System (DOS) games remain more your thing, then there are certainly plenty of options still available if you want to take a trip to memory lane and relive some childhood adventures.
