Description
Tank Attack (originally created in 1988 by IQ Games and published by CDS Software) is a hybrid computer-and-tabletop wargame rather than a
story-driven narrative title.
Because it functions as a digitized turn-based strategy game, it does not feature a traditional scripted plot, central protagonist, or narrative
storyline. Instead, the contextual setup centers on a fictional military conflict where up to four competing faction commanders battle for total
tactical dominance. The game was designed to be played alongside a physical fold-out hex map representing a fictional continent divided into four
nations across diverse terrains. Each player takes command of an armored division consisting of a fleet of tanks and armored reconnaissance cars.
The main objective for every player is to strategically deploy their armored forces to capture and destroy rival enemy bases while defending
their own headquarters from total annihilation.
At the start of each turn, the computer calculates movement action points and combat odds, simulating battles, repairs, and tactical maneuvers
as players input their decisions. Ultimately, the overarching goal of the game is to outmaneuver all opposing commanders and emerge as the sole
surviving military force on the map.
