Harrier Jump Jet
Developed by Microphase in 1992, Harrier jump-jet is a flight simulation game portraying the R.A.F GR7 and US Marine Corps AV-8B Harriers. The graphics of Harrier jump jet is appreciable and does a fine job in the game. There are two displays- one being the Radar and the other Being the Map. Outside view includes the sky or the Landscape seen by the pilot. There is a HUD (Heads-up display) which is used to target and shoot. The simulators are very basic with functions limited to compass, missile alert, etc. It is much to expect in those days. Harriers are vertical take-off jets, which ruled over the seas once. They continue to be the pride of British Navy till recent past. Microphase has done a great job in developing this game with clear graphics. The sound is pretty irritating just like other aircraft simulation games which are basically the roar of the engine. The startup sound is good. The Harrier jump jet is a good game in terms of effort, placed to simulate reality and the interface is one of the best developed in the early 1990’s category. The Harrier jump jet offers twenty missions across two campaigns. These missions can be flown using the Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2. The game is also compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002.
