You are the dashing former agent of the CIA, Mason Powers. In the game Countdown, you wake up in an asylum in Turkey with many of your memories erased. As you go through the game you slowly regain your memories, you remember that you were accused of murdering your supervisor. You have to escape from the asylum and goes back to the CIA where you get back into the world of espionage murder and terrorism.
Countdown is a point-click game full of adventures that occur through travel, interactions with many characters in the game and by the use of inventory item based puzzles. You travel around the world and have the ability to choose your actions from a panel of options. Much of the game has a lot of conversations where you can choose to be pleasant, bluff, help or hassle. Depending on what you choose you may be able to progress, there is an equal chance you will die.
The game mainly has a first-person perspective and occasionally a top-view while navigating mazes. The game also has a time limit in the hours the player has inside the game. The game uses photographs and hand-painted scenery as a part of the graphics. It also uses digital music and voice samples as a part of the game. One advice experienced users give players is not to trust anyone.
