Description
Supercars International (1996), developed by Magnetic Fields and published by Gremlin Interactive, is a top-down combat racing game that acts
as a enhanced MS-DOS remake of the classic Super Cars II.
Because it is an arcade-style racing game, it does not feature a traditional narrative storyline, main character, or scripted plot. Instead,
the "plot" revolves around a fictional, futuristic combat racing championship set across a series of high-stakes tracks.
Players step into the shoes of a rookie race car driver attempting to rise through the ranks of an aggressive motor racing league. To succeed,
the driver must compete across various divisions against ruthless AI opponents on twisty, obstacle-filled circuits.
In addition to driving skill, victory relies on tactical warfare, as cars can be equipped with front and rear missiles, landmines, and armor
upgrades. Between races, players manage their prize money to repair damage, purchase ammo, and buy faster, better-armored vehicles.
Throughout the season, players also interact with sponsors and answer cheeky media interview questions that influence their finances and career
standing. The ultimate objective is to win every division, defeat the championship rivals, and be crowned the supreme combat racing champion.
