ShadowCaster is a game set in a fantasy land that has shapeshifters and humans. The player is named Kirt and lives with his grandfather. The player and his grandfather are a part of the family of shapeshifting magical creatures called The People. The race of the People was extinguished by one of their own in a quest for power, Malkor, the outcast god. In the present day of the game, the god's target is Kirt, who is chased by the minions of Malkor throughout the game.
Now, Malkor's minions are after Kirt, and he must recall the techniques of his race to defeat evil. The game requires Kirk to recall all the former lore and their ability so he can escape the minions and defeat the evil lord Malkor.
ShadowCaster is made as a 3D effect picturization with a first-person perspective. The game has a low level of role play. The game has engineering that is similar to the game Wolfenstein 3D and additionally adds abilities such as jumping, swimming and flying to the ability list of the player via shapeshifting. Every shape the player shifts into has distinct advantages and disadvantages. The shapes in this game are unique and allow the player to shift into magical creatures like the four-armed cat, leprechauns, and dragons.
