Description

Olympic Games: Atlanta 1996 was licensed by the Atlanta Olympics community and launched as the official video game of the 1996 Olympic Games. The game was developed by Silicon Dreams Studio Ltd. and released on the DOS platform. It was launched in the United States and several European countries at the same time.
The game offers a total of 15 sporting events and 8 athletes from various nations. However, the player can edit their names and nationalities before entering a tournament. Many of these events are track and sprinting events such as 100 m sprint, 110m hurdles, High jump, long jump, etc. The others include Archery, Discus throwing, skeet shooting, etc. The game is 3D and can be played by up to 8 players. There are 3 difficulty levels in the game. Practice levels are also available before the start of the actual competition. For specific events like the Javelin throw, long and high jump, three attempts are available to score high points. For other events like the 100m sprint, there are qualifying rounds, and only qualified players are allowed to participate in the actual event.
The game is available in 5 different languages- English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian. The main menu offers 5 options to choose from- Arcade, Challenge, Olympic, Practice, and Options. The only indicator of performance is the medals table where medals won by each player are displayed on a blue background.
Individual scores do not find a way to the display screen. Olympic Games: Atlanta 1996 is the last video game released on the fourth generation of consoles. The game is also known as the Olympic Summer Games.
