Olimpiadas 92: Gimnasia Deportiva is a sports simulation, specifically consisting of the Gymnastic events held at the 1992 Olympic Games of Barcelona. The game was released in Spain in the same year as the Olympic event. It was developed and published by Toposoft and ran on the DOS platform.
Olimpiadas 92: Gimnasia Deportiva can be played by 1-4 players and consists of seven different gymnastic events. At the start of the game, it offers the option to choose the number of players and team selection. There are 6 different teams to choose from, all from different countries. A training mode is also available for practice sessions before the Olympic events begin. The game is controlled mostly with the mouse and the player needs to click to initiate movement. The scores depend on the accuracy of the movement and thus the perfect timing of the click is crucial to the outcome of the game.
There are icons available at the bottom of the screen, associated with every movement. The player needs to select the right one at the right moment to ensure their athlete scores top points. The game consists of a sequence of animations that are realized based on the player’s input. The game language is a mix of Spanish and English. The seven events in the game are Vault, high bar, still rings, uneven bars, women's floor, parallel bars, and masculine bars.
The top 5 scores of each round are displayed on the screen after the competition. The winner of each event takes home the prestigious Olympic medal.
