Description

Nobunagas Ambition II is a strategy game developed and published by KOEI Co., Ltd. It was released in 1989 on the DOS platform. The game is a sequel to Nobungas Ambition and is available on DOS, PC 88, and Windows.
Nobungas Ambition II is set in medieval Japan when the country was largely ruled by feudal lords. These feudal lords called Damiyo were constantly at odds with each other trying to gain absolute dominance. The one to win the brutal power struggle would be proclaimed the lord of all islands.
The Winner would be termed Shogun and be second to none other than the Emperor of Japan. The player takes the role of a Damiyo, whose goal is to unify Japan by bringing all the islands and regions under his rule. This can be achieved partly through diplomacy, however, to reach the ultimate goal, the Damiyo will need to engage in wars. The first task is to bring about agricultural and socio-political reforms in his estate to become a contender for the top post. There are several forces that try to deter the player from succeeding in his quest through assassination attempts or frequent battles. The Damiyo might also die of natural causes during the campaign. In case of the death of the protagonist, the player can choose a successor and continue the mission. The game is divided into months, with each month specifying a task such as rice harvesting and tax collection.
The game provides two modes, one that is set in 1560 AD, and the other in 1582 AD. Both these modes lead up to a significant war, drawing parallels from the history of Japan.
