Attention to Detail Limited was a software development company that developed leisure titles, business software, designed electronics for the arcade, and created many development tools. It was started in the front room of a house in September 1988 by 5 graduates from Birmingham University, Chris Gibbs, Fred Gill, Martin Green, Jon Steele and Jim Torjussen, and at its peak the company employed 75 people and occupied 12,000 sq. ft of converted barns in rural Warwickshire (UK).

Description

Night Shift is a unique, highly inventive industrial-puzzle platform game released in 1990. Developed by British studio Attention to Detail (ATD) and published by LucasArts (then known as Lucasfilm Games), it stands out as one of the few pure puzzle-action games released by Lucasfilm during their golden age of graphic adventures.
You play as either Fred or Fiona, a night-shift worker employed at Industrial Might & Logic (IM&L)—a satirical nod to Lucasfilm's special effects division, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM).
Your sole job is to operate a massive, complex machine nicknamed the BEAST (Bicycle-Powered Electrical Artifact-Spinning Technology). The factory's main output is producing official Lucasfilm licensed plastic action figures, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Indiana Jones, and Stormtroopers.
To successfully complete a shift, you must manufacture a specific quota of action figures according to the night's instruction manual.
Operating the machine requires jumping around platforms, pulling levers, turning valves, pressing buttons, and pedaling on a exercise-bike-style generator to generate power.
You must manage every step of the process:
Adjusting plastic resin colors (mixing red, blue, and yellow).
Ensuring correct molds are loaded for heads, torsos, and legs.
Securing proper assembly, painting, and packaging.
You must fight against time, machine breakdowns, overheating, power drops, and annoying factory pests like stray cats or mischievous workers who tamper with the machine controls.
