MYTHOS mainstreams Greek mythology into a digital game. The action, the intrigue, and the mystical creatures all come to life in this 2D Dos Game.
The protagonist is an archer centaur called Ahyzar. If you don't know what a centaur is, then imagine a person, usually male, having the lower body of a horse.
Your goal in this game is to help Ahyzar find the seven lost magic coins that belong to his master Krosar.
These coins reside in the nooks and crannies of Olympus. As special as they are, whoever finds them won't give them up easily. So Ahyzar must fight for them.
But Ahyzar has only 3 lives so you must help him use everything in his arsenal to defeat the monsters of Olympus, otherwise, he'll have to start from the beginning. It is not going to be easy to navigate through this 2D action game. You have to know when to fight and when to avoid combat.
This mythical fantasy game runs on old graphics. Even though the graphics are not top of the line, players can still get the sense of the environment as Olympus and will recognize most of its famous monuments, its monsters like gargoyles and so many other characteristics that make up the environment.
There are no tips or options to tweak your player to your taste. You just have to find those seven coins alive.
MYTHOS came to Dos and Amstrad CPC in 1990 from Opera Soft S.A. It was released in Spain. As one of the very first attempts to bring Greek mythology to action games, Mythos opened the door for many games to follow.
