These are evil times. The Dark Lord, Ridavion, is amassing his armies on the borders of this land. War, and perhaps the final stand, is imminent. Your good king, Narsild, mourns the loss of his son and the other brave knights who lost their lives at the other brave knights who lost their lives at the seige of Gimbrael some years ago, and vows that the same fate shall never again befall one of his cities.
Donnovan, the King's champion, recently lead a force of mounted knights into Southgrond, the southern realm of Ridavion, seeking vengeance. Many fortnights have passed, however, and news of their fare has been slow to reach you.
For the final conflict, Narsild has decreed that the remaining armies of the free realms shall unite and assault the troll-laden strongholds of Ridavion to the north. It is believed that the Dark Lord himself is to be found there, and if so, Narsild will seek a final end to his ruinous tyrrany. For the campaign however, he will need his champion Paladin, Donnovan, whom no mortal man can best and all evil creatures fear Fresh from the barracks of the capital city, Beleguras, you have been assigned the dutious task of riding to the south lands to bear the King's summons to Donnovan.
