Happy Birthday is an edutainment title for kids. It was released in Russia in 1995 and runs on the DOS platform. The game was developed and published by Nikita Ltd. The game starts with an introduction to a teddy bear called Finnie, based on the popular character Winnie the Pooh. Finnie lives in the forest with his friends, Donkey, Owl, Piglet, and rabbit. On his birthday, Finnie decides to throw a party and invite all his friends. The player controls Finnie and helps him to hand deliver the invitations.
Since the most important aspect of every party is the food, Finnie needs to scavenge for fruits and vegetables his friends like. The player needs to help Finnie find the appropriate food for his friends and bring them to the party. However, there are obstacles that arise in the forest like a maze of mushrooms, magical trees, falling cones, etc. There are rivers and lakes to cross on his way. Finnie must also climb trees to pluck fruits. Despite the difficulties, nothing can stop Finnie from throwing a fun party for his friends. At the same time, Finnie’s friends decide to give him a present for his birthday and visit the little Dwarf’s shop. At the shop, they decide to let Finnie choose the present. hence, Finnie must also make a stop at the gift shop to collect his presents. Once the invitations have been delivered, and the fruits and presents are collected, Finnie’s friends arrive at the party on a basket tied to a hot air balloon and they all have a merry time. The game language is a mix of Russian and English.
