Atari Games Corporation was a subsidiary of Time Warner Communications. It was founded in 1985 after Time Warner sold the console and computer divisions of Atari, Inc. (which continued operations as Atari Corporation). Atari Games Corporation kept Atari's arcade business. Warner Communications sold off its controlling interest to Namco in 1985 (which were bought back by Atari employees in 1986). At this time, the company founded Tengen, Inc. to get foot into the console market. Time Warner bought the controlling interest back in 1993 and made the company a subsidiary of Time Warner Interactive, Inc.. In 1996 it was sold to WMS Industries which made it a subsidiary or Midway Games, Inc. and renamed it to Midway Games West, Inc. in 1999. It remained in the arcade business until 2001 and was closed in 2003. However, the entity was not dissolved until 2013 (and, along with the rest of Midway, became property of Warner Bros. Entertainment in 2009).

Description

After the success of its predecessor and winning the heart of players, here the next phase of Gauntlet II is once again ready to raise the bar to a new level. Similar to the first part, this game too is filled with its share of mysteries, spells and lots of magic. The plot like the original series comprises of 4 characters including a wizard, a warrior, an elf and a Valkyre. Each is bestowed with their set of unique powers which can be used individually as well as in pairs and groups to combat the situations put forth. All four are required to make their way through the mazes along with moving about collecting magic potions, treasures, fight monsters and different creatures. In addition to all these features which are identical to the previous one too, in this series brings about yet more uniqueness. There are new monsters to fight which includes sorcerers, blobs of acid. Also, the player needs to be careful of a black monster who houses in the player’s body and saps away his health. The levels start to randomize after the 5th stage, making the gameplay more complex. If you and your friend wish to play the same character, well, even that is possible in this series of Gauntlet II, by choosing different colors for characters. Laid with breathtaking twists and turns in addition to a myriad of fun, this adventure arcade game is something to watch out for.
