Deadline is a Strategy and tactics game. It is based on an anti-terrorism storyline and uses strategy and real-time action plans to create the most interesting game play.
The scenario is that the terrorists have hostages. They don't mind killing of a few of them to get their way. You as the head of the anti-terrorism squad need to be careful and collect intelligence and also plan a careful rescue plan for the hostages and an attack plan for the terrorists. There are 17 levels of real-time strategy game. Deadline even has full video debriefings and you need to be successful as many lives depend on your actions.
Deadline has a birds-eye view of the setting giving you a better perspective and a chance to plan. This allows you to strategize better. You come up against cultist that are fanatical, prison escaped convicts, drug dealers etc. throughout the game, but your main mission is to rescue the hostages, first and then to disable the terrorists. Avoid bloodshed and death by all possible means. You need to make sure you capture most of them alive to succeed in your mission. The game also has a negotiation mode where you can communicate with the terrorists. Research of the terrorists, the location of the hostages etc., should also be done, but waste too much time and the hostages get killed and you become a disgrace and lose your job.
