Description
Beverly Hills Cop (1990), published by the British company Tynesoft Computer Software for MS-DOS (as well as Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, and
Amstrad CPC), is an action game based on the hit 1984 movie starring Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley.
Unlike straightforward shooters or platformers, the game attempts to mirror various film tropes by breaking the experience down into four distinct
mini-game styles:
Top-down driving stages where you steer Axel Foley's car through city streets, dodging traffic and pursuing suspects.
Side-scrolling platforming/shooting segments where Axel navigates locations like warehouses, dodging enemies and obstacles.
Pseudo-3D first-person perspective shooting gallery stages where you clear out rooms of enemy henchmen using a crosshair.
Top-down shooter rooms where you sneak or shoot your way through building interiors.
