Total Eclipse is an adventure game involving puzzle solving and survival within multi-level environments. It provides a 3-D environment in which the player can move freely and explore.
There is a pyramid dedicated to Ra, The God of the Sun. An ancient evil Egyptian priest puts a curse on Ra that anything hampering the holy place of Ra from the Sun would be destroyed. An archaeologist studies that on October 26, 1930, an obstruction would be caused which will cause the moon to explode and thus, the Earth will be destroyed with its debris. Therefore, to destroy the shrine so as to prevent the curse, the archaeologist decides to travel to that pyramid.
The player arrives at the pyramid by a biplane and enters the pyramid two hours before the eclipse. As the player enters the pyramid, he crosses the maze-like rooms avoiding traps and generating mazes. His death can be caused by various means which are as follows.
• Heart- attack
• Dropping shelves
• Falling stones
• Shots from venomous darts.
The player hunts valuable riches during the quest and thus gets scored. He also collects keys to the locked doors called ‘Ankhs’.
The chief aspects of Total Eclipse consist of:
• The water jar, which needs to be refilled with water found at different levels because, as the player progresses, the water in the jar lessens and when it becomes empty, the player dies from dehydration
• When the heart rate of the player goes high, the health indicator tells it. The player needs to lower it by resting.
