Description
Road Hog! (1995) is a colorful, quirky arcade racing game developed by Teacy Entertainment and published by Ticsoft for MS-DOS. Released during the peak era of
sprite-based, pseudo-3D kart racers like Wacky Wheels and Skunny Kart, Road Hog! stood out thanks to its slapstick humor, varied mission objectives, and upbeat
presentation.
The game frames your racing career around a humorous fictional TV series called the Dozer & Mushbrain Show. Your goal as a driver is to travel across 9 different
countries, rack up points across various tracks, and prove yourself to be the ultimate, meanest "road hog" on national television.
Rather than simply being a standard "drive 3 laps and cross the finish line" racer, Road Hog! keeps things fresh by varying the goals from track to track:
Varied Level Objectives: On some tracks, you race head-to-head against rival drivers. On others, you race against a strict countdown timer or complete specific
arcade minigame objectives—such as picking up stranded yetis on snowy tracks for bonus points.
Arcade Handling & Mechanics: Controls are simple and accessible (using arrow keys to steer and keys to accelerate/brake) with smooth scaling sprites to simulate
speed.
Track Variety: Tracks take place across a range of international locations and themes, including icy snowscapes, desert highways, and city circuits.
