Description
Obitus (1991) is a notable classic PC/DOS title developed by Scenario Developments and published by Psygnosis. Originally released for Amiga, Atari ST, and MS-DOS
(and later ported to the Super Nintendo in 1994), it stands out as an experimental fantasy action-adventure/RPG hybrid typical of Psygnosis's early 90s releases.
You play as Wil Mason, a modern-day lecturer in medieval history. While driving through Snowdonia, Wales during a severe storm, his car breaks down. Seeking shelter in a
nearby ruined tower, he falls asleep and wakes up mysteriously transported to a fantasy realm called Middlemere (or Obitus).
The land has fallen into chaos because four prince brothers—each holding a piece of a powerful Gem of Tranquility—were turned against each other by an evil sorceress.
Wil’s objective is to explore the four territories, defeat or deal with the princes, recover the gems, and find a way back home.
