Description

Multiplex is a retro freeware action-arcade game developed by Aestan Games and released in 2007.
Though developed long after the commercial MS-DOS era ended, it was intentionally compiled as a 16-bit DOS executable (v1.0 in 2007).
It represents the hobbyist retro-programming scene of the mid-2000s. The game is a fast-paced arena shooter heavily inspired by classic arcade titles like Robotron: 2084. The player controls a ship/character in top-down single-screen levels tasked with eliminating all hostility on screen to advance.
It runs in standard text/graphics modes, relying on 16-color extended ASCII block graphics to build map terrain, enemies, and project visual hazards. Features numerous wave-based levels where enemy density and speed scale quickly, demanding rapid movement and precise directional shooting.
Because it was created in 2007, modern 64-bit Windows operating systems cannot run the 16-bit executable natively; it requires an emulator like DOSBox to run properly.
