Launched by Core Design limited in 1991, Heimdall is a Demi-God as taken from the Norse mythology. Everyone is acquainted with the Marvel’s character of Thor and his recently destroyed homeland ‘Asgard’ in the 2018 thriller ‘Thor Ragnarok’. Well, this game plays the character of Heimdall – the gatekeeper. The game starts with three sub-games to play and based on the player's performance in these sub-games, the player will get a set of 30 or fewer characters. Better the performance, Heimdall gets to choose better characters for his team. The first sub game is Axe-throwing contest, the second being pig catching contest and the third being Longboat fight. Then, Heimdall has to wander far off isometric lands, kill the enemy and recover god's secret weapon. The game is set in isometric view and comes under the role-playing genre. It has been released in 5 platforms namely Acorn 32-bit, Amiga, Atari ST, SEGA CD, and DOS. The game interface is quite user-friendly as it should be in any role-playing game. The developers could have done a better job by reducing the complexity of the game. The game is a mixture of many previous games like the dungeon master, cadaver, etc. Core Design has assimilated the features of more than 5 games into Heimdall and the game response is quick enough for a good experience.
