Cosmic Soldier: Psychic War

You’re in the year 3656, despite all the positive technological advancement and social progress in humanity there are still good guys and bad guys. Some things never change. As you explore star systems with your robot companion Kayla in your decked-out space battleship, you end up in a strange trade station that hides an ancient secret.
Uncovering this secret will not be easy as you must fight your way through secret doors and take down enemies. Instead of hand-to-hand combat and guns, you have psychic abilities strong enough to defeat enemies. A mind beam that can obliterate hostile enemies will clear out the path for you when enemies suddenly pop up.
You have to react very fast or they’ll chip away at your health. Your psychic abilities also help you to explore the maze-like terrain and find answers. Along the way, you’ll run into strong powerups and new companions who will join you in your quest, and whose unique fighting abilities you’ll rely on.
COSMIC SOLDIER: PSYCHIC WAR has two different viewing angles, it takes a first-person perspective during exploration, which is placed at the bottom left of the screen, and a 2D side-view perspective during fights with enemies, which is at the bottom right. Beneath your character is his health bar which often depletes during fights, and as other characters join your quest, you’ll be able to see their health bar as well.
This anime-style Sci-fi action game packs a pretty nifty set of gadgets that make the gameplay interesting to make up for the pixelated graphics.
COSMIC SOLDIER: PSYCHIC WAR brings something new to the table. This 1989 DOS game was published by Kyodai Software in the United States. Can you uncover the ancient mystery?
