Description
Chuckie Egg is one of the most famous and beloved British platform games from the 80s 8-bit computer era. While originally created in 1983 by Nigel Alderton
and published by A&F Software for home microcomputers like the ZX Spectrum and BBC Micro, M.C. Lothlorien Ltd was responsible for porting and releasing
the DOS/IBM PC version later in 1989.
You take on the role of Hen-House Harry. Your goal in each level is simple: collect 12 giant eggs scattered across a single-screen maze of platforms, ladders,
and elevator lifts before the timer runs out.
To complete a level, Harry must collect all 12 eggs. Scattered around the screen are also piles of birdseed. Collecting birdseed yields bonus points and
temporarily pauses the countdown timer. Ostrich-like giant hens patrol the platforms and ladders. Touching one instantly loses you a life. The hens will also
try to eat your birdseed if you don't get to it first. Harry moves very fast compared to other platform games of the era. You can jump mid-stride, grab ladders
mid-air, and ride continuously moving lifts that wrap around the screen. Falling off the bottom of the screen or hitting the top ceiling on a lift loses a
life.
