Shooter games featuring carnage, explosions, and vanquished enemies always stay ahead of the game, so it’s not a surprise the BARYON is no exception. Featuring fast-paced action with the sole objective to kill all enemies in sight, this game is guaranteed to keep players hooked with an adrenaline rush and endless entertainment.
The story is pretty straightforward. You find yourself with a choice to select types of ships, each has a different set of weapons to suit players' battle style. Your preferred ship then finds itself alone in hostile alien territory. It’s simply kill or be killed. Equipped with a vast range of weapons and upgrades, such as homing missiles, and shields, your shooting and maneuvering skills will be extremely useful to kill the deluge of attacks from enemy aliens, get to the final level, and destroy the big bad boss.
The action-packed gameplay which puts players at the edge of their seats makes up for the mediocre graphics. The explosion booms and missile shots look great with accurate precision. Even the soundtrack adds to the thrill and fits well with the objective. Baryon is less about what it looks like and more about how entertaining it is to players.
This top-down shooter game was one of the best releases in 1995 in the United States and Germany. Published by The Game Factory, and available on Dos, BARYON is one game that will keep players coming back for more. Players who love fast-shooting action games are, no doubt, going to love this.
ACRO Studio was a South Korean game developer. They were best known for their scrolling shoot-em-up games for the PC, one of which, Baryon (1995), was released in the West.
