Baron Baldric: A Grave Adventure
This mystical fantasy game has an interesting backstory that dates back centuries. BARON BALDRIC: A GRAVE ADVENTURE is set against a story of magic and murder. Legend has it that Baron Baldric’s ancestor, Baron Lazarus Pedabouche had an inclination for the dark arts. His research and experimentation led him into evil wolf magic that turned him into a blood-thirsty tyrant. His exploits did not stop there, but when he kidnaps the local milkmaid, Rosie, his subjects rose against him and stoned him to death. Unfortunately, Rosie did not survive his cruelty and lost her life, but her spirit lingers in the catacombs of the castle and has vowed vengeance, haunting the whole castle.
As his descendant, your mission is to solve the mystery puzzle underneath Castle Pedabouche. This journey will lead to finding answers to century-old questions hidden deep within family treasures which lie in obscurity under the tombs. Baron Baldric will encounter all kinds of creatures, both good and evil before he can fulfill his quest.
The gameplay is 2 dimensional following the pattern of popular adventure games of the time. Baron Baldric sports a green robe as he explores the tombs, passing skeletons of slain warriors and meeting fairies along the way. It employs some realism because you need food to survive. And for that, there are red apples scattered all across the various rooms he’ll go through. Be sure to get those, otherwise, you’ll likely run out of health. You must also gather lamp flints to light your dark path as well.
BARON BALDRIC: A GRAVE ADVENTURE was released in 1993 on Dos and Amiga platforms. Can you help the Baron solve a century’s old puzzle that has haunted his family?
