Siege of Avalon Chapter 1
Welcome to first Chapter of "Siege of Avalon." This is the first in a series of 6 total game Chapters telling the story of the Siege of Avalon. Be sure to visit our Web pages:
If you tend to wait until after you've experienced a little of a game before you start reading its documentation, then here is what you need to know to get going quickly:
*) This is a "traditional" Role-Playing Game with Real-Time Combat. After you establish the starting specifications for your character you will enter "game-play mode." In this mode you control your character as it moves about the game world and interacts with other Non-Player Characters (NPC).
*) Your character has 2 main modes: "Combat" and "Non-Combat." Please note that some actions can only be accomplished when in the appropriate mode (e.g. you can't retrieve treasure from bodies or containers while in Combat mode). The image at the top-right of the game screen indicates your mode, with "Combat Mode" depicted by 2 crossed swords behind your character icon. Use the "SPACE" key to switch between modes.
*) The F1 key opens the basic HELP "reminder" inside the game. Detailed help is provided through our Web and the additional files installed with the game (like this ReadMe). You must be in the normal "game-play mode" to use F1 Help, it will not display while having a dialog with other characters. Make note of special "feature" commands (like the "X" key to toggle the X-Ray Vision feature which is very helpful).
*) Save often, especially if you are prone to attacking without provocation or ignoring clear instructions from important game characters.
*) Try every control on the main "game-play mode" interface so you know what it does. Read the pop-up text displays, and use Right-Click where indicated to access additional detailed information.
*) Like all games, especially those with Real-Time Combat, there is a certain "rhythm" to the controls that will make the game the most fun to play and control. Give yourself a little time to learn how this game flows.

"New Game" takes you to the Character Setup screen where you can change the look of your character, give it a name, and set the starting statistics of some of the character's abilities. When you are ready click Continue.
The First Journal page is displayed. These journals provide important information about the game environment, your objectives, and how to determine friend versus foe.
You are now in the game system, welcome to Avalon.
